Lockdown 2.0 - PM's National Address on 14 April, 2020

Amidst the ongoing epidemic conditions, our Prime Minister has addressed the nation three

times with a video message one time. Today morning, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi

addressed the nation-state on what we need to do to control the fire-spreading conditions.

He in his address thanked all the citizens for making this ordeal possible and zealous conduct of

the rules of lock down in earlier 21 days. He also said, "Today being Ambedkar Jayanti, let's

show what Babasaheb Ambedkar taught us and let us thank him for his wonderful teachings.

'WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA' as the constitution says is being proved by the unity of the

country. The state governments and officials are also cooperating with the nation in fighting with

this fatal pandemic." He also said, "India is in a very settled state as compared to other parts of

the world. Many states of the world were standing equal to India almost a month ago and now

they are affected more. If India didn't use a holistic approach, the situation would have been

gravest. Also, there is a proper stock of medicines and food in India with proper medical

facilities."

On the suggestions of various state governments and taking in consideration the general

opinion of the public, the lockdown in the country is extended till 3rd May. However, till 20th

April, every area of the country will be screened. After screening, if there are no hotspots in a

particular region, there will be certain restricted freedom to that area for the benefit of the labor

class who work on daily wage basis. If any passage of the restrictions is found out, the freedom

will be forbidden again immediately.

The Prime Minister wants the support of India in seven things and they are as follows:

● Take care of elders in your house, specially those who are afflicted with common

diseases such as diabetes etc.

● To make sure you are at an acceptable social distance and following the rules of the

lock down imposed, with the use of masks and proper sanitation.

● To follow the guidelines regarding immunity increase.

● To Download Arogya Setu Mobile application and motivate others to download it.

● To take care of the poor people around you.

● To not to fire anyone from jobs.

● To respect and motivate the corona fighters such as doctors, policemen, etc.

The Prime Minister also congratulated various states on their regional cultural festivals and

appreciated the efforts of the people to stay inside homes during such important days. He

added, "We have to be disciplined the same way as were during earlier 21 days. The increase

in the cases may pose new challenges. The detailed guidelines for this lock down will be issued

in public interest tomorrow.

"The only key to victory is the national lock down. The path India has chosen is the rightest way.

Though expensive, but necessary." were some of the additions by the PM.
